First graders learned about watercolor resist.  It was really cool to watch the watercolor bead up on the oil pastel.
Second graders reviewed the cool and warm colors with dinosaur mixed media pictures.
Third graders looked at various kinds of leaves before creating their watercolor resist paintings.
Our world is changing and one of the closest examples is the loss of our old bridges.  Fourth graders looked at photos of bridges around the world and those close to home.  Some, like our Austin Bridge in SanteFe Park have been preserved, but others like the seven arch bridge in Humboldt have disappeared.
 One of the fifth graders said, "It's just an illusion!"  I can't think of a better description of art work.  Pablo Picasso said, "Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth."  Fifth graders are learning how to create shadows to give their work depth.
